The World Health Organization, effective May 5, 2023, has declared the worldwide COVID -19 pandemic to have ended, which follows the previous cessation of the Statewide/Judicial Emergency by the State of Georgia. Effective, May 11, the United States Government ended its COVID-19 public health emergency. However, for a limited period, certain precautions will remain in place to protect vulnerable members of the public and court staff, as public health experts predict that ongoing COVID-19 infections will continue, “as a public health threat” for some time, analogous to a “bad flu season”.
